      <title>WAGS Adds Morven Park For 2013 Tournament</title>

        <![CDATA[<p>Starting with the 2013 WAGS Tournament in October Morven Park will host all U11-U12 small sided games. Morven Park opened during the summer of last year with 6 full sided bermuda grass fields. The full sided fields will be turned into 12 small sided 8v8 fields 80x60 for the tournament. With plenty of parking, easy road access, rest rooms and concessions this park will only make the WAGS Tournament an even better experience for all teams.         <![CDATA[<p>Applications for the WAGS Qualifier are now online (June 22-23, 2013). The deadline to apply for the tournament is May 10, 2013. We will only be taking the first 16 teams in each age group (U12-U17) for the qualifier. The top two teams in each age group will automatically qualify for the 2013 WAGS Tournament in October.         <![CDATA[<p>Applications for the 2013 WAGS Tournament are now available online. Last years tournament saw 462 applications and only 366 teams were accepted. With the success of last years tournament and with it being ranked as the #2 All Girls Tournament in the Country we are expecting those numbers to increase for 2013. Only applications submitted before the deadline will be considered for acceptance and no application is considered complete until all payments have been received.       <title>WAGS Rael Vodicka Memorial Tournament joins NSCAA and Elite Tournaments&#8217; showcase series</title>

        <![CDATA[<p>A 36-year-old event which takes place in the Washington, D.C. suburbs every Columbus Day weekend, the <span class="caps">WAGS</span> Tournament draws hundreds of the top girls&rsquo; club teams in North America with its quality facilities and fierce competition.</p><p>It becomes the fourth tournament in NSCAA&rsquo;s showcase series, joining    other featured events in Overland Park, Kan., Geneva, Ohio and    Baltimore, Md. staged and executed by NSCAA&rsquo;s partner Elite Tournaments.</p><p>&ldquo;We&rsquo;re so excited about joining with <span class="caps">NSCAA</span> and Elite Tournaments,&rdquo; said <span class="caps">WAGS</span>    president Kathie Diapoulis. &ldquo;Our tournament has been a great event  for   more than three decades, but with their expertise, this  partnership  will  take us to the next level and make it a can&rsquo;t-miss  destination for  the  nation&rsquo;s best teams.&rdquo;</p><p><span class="caps">NSCAA</span> showcase tournaments are attended by college coaches from across the nation, who have the opportunity to participate in <span class="caps">NSCAA</span> educational courses following the close of match action.</p><p>Clubs and players receive sustained exposure to top <span class="caps">NCAA</span> and <span class="caps">NAIA</span> programs at these <span class="caps">NSCAA</span> events &ndash; as well as a complimentary one-year <span class="caps">NSCAA</span>    membership for each team entered &ndash; while college coaches can take    advantage of recruiting and continuing education opportunities at the    same location.</p><p>&ldquo;The <span class="caps">WAGS</span> showcase is one of the premier girls&rsquo; tournaments in the U.S.,&rdquo; said Joe Cummings, NSCAA&rsquo;s <span class="caps">CEO</span> and Executive Director. &ldquo;This is a fantastic opportunity for the <span class="caps">NSCAA</span> to further our brand message, the <span class="caps">NSCAA</span> College Showcase Series and our partnership with Elite Tournaments.&rdquo;</p><p>Elite Tournaments will assist <span class="caps">WAGS</span> with the    tournament&rsquo;s planning and execution, a process which is already set  to   begin this month with preliminary site evaluations.         <![CDATA[<p>&nbsp;</p><p style="text-align: center; "><img width="200" height="250" alt="" src="http://www.wagstournament.com/imgs/200x250_HOF_Mavis_Derflinger.jpg" /></p><table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="1">    <tbody>        <tr>            <td valign="top">            <p><span style="font-size: 11px; ">It is with great sadness that we report Mavis Derflinger passed away early Thursday morning (October 14th). &nbsp;<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 0px; ">Mavis Derflinger began her soccer career when she coached a girls team in Lee-Mt. Vernon (1969).&nbsp; She teamed with Rael Vodicka in the early 1970&rsquo;s to form the Washington Area Girls Soccer League (WAGS), where she served as Treasurer.&nbsp; Derflinger was elected the President of the Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA) and was named the Region I Director for United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) by the mid-1970&rsquo;s.&nbsp; She became the first female Board member of the US Soccer Federation (USSF) in the early 1980&rsquo;s and in 1986 was elected Chairman of US Youth Soccer, which put her on the USSF Executive Committee.&nbsp; In 1994 Derflinger, along with Betty D&rsquo;Anjolell, took the first team, an under 19 team, to travel outside the US.&nbsp; The team played in Iceland, Germany, Norway and Holland.&nbsp; Mavis was the Head of Delegation for the First Women&rsquo;s Team to travel overseas when they played in competition in Jessolo Italy and was Head of Delegation for the U19 team in competition in Varga, Bulgaria.&nbsp; Derflinger fought tirelessly for funding for the US Women&rsquo;s program and sees the US Women&rsquo;s development as one of her proudest achievements.&nbsp; USSF voted her a &ldquo;Life Member&rdquo; in 1990.&nbsp; She received the Sporting Goods Manufacturers of America &ldquo;National Heroes Award&rdquo; in 1995 for her dedication to soccer in the local community.&nbsp; In 2004, Mavis was the first woman inducted into the CONCACAF Hall of Fame.&nbsp;</span></span><span style="font-size: 11px; ">She was a tremendous advocate for women's soccer. &nbsp;While we may have lost Mavis, her legacy lives on.</span></p>            </td>        </tr>    </tbody></table><p>&nbsp;</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p><font face="Arial" size="2">Teams will play one game each day (Sat/Sun/Mon) and the games will be 40 minute halves .&nbsp; This will allow players to get maximum exposure to college coaches while allowing them proper rest between games.&nbsp; The tournament will make every attempt to schedule Monday games to allow teams adequate travel time to return home.</font></p>]]>
